Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family work and involvement in the community. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of the nine children raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon obtained a degree as a teacher. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduating Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the group. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
